Old Men on an Old Run
Published by
After a slow and painful run on a route that Phil and I used to do much faster to train for marathons, I needed to remind myself of a few things. It's still all about just getting out there, being together, enjoying old runs and finding new ones (especially in the woods), and getting the heartrate up a few times a week. The excitement and adventure aren't gone, we just need to look for them in new ways. I used to claim that I was non-competitive. Now that claim is being put to the test. Can I get excited enough about the best parts of running to gracefully let the other parts go and still put in the miles? I used to think the best prayer was one word: "Help!" Now I think it's two words: "Thank you."
